About Maestra Milonguera Laura Grandi
“I promise that you will fall in love with tango, its embrace and its people”
Visiting NYC in MAY 2022
From Haedo neighborhood (Buenos Aires province), Laura is visiting NYC to bring the authentic flavor of Tango as it is being danced in the outskirts of Buenos Aires. She danced all her life at the “milongas del barrio” and trained with old school maestros like Eduardo Pareja and Graciela Gonzalez, among others.
Laura’s dance is very classic, traditional, and connected to the floor. Aesthetically, she looks for density of the walk, elegance, fluidity, authenticity and connecting with the partner through the quality of the embrace.
Laura describes Tango as a lifestyle that gathers social activities with artistic elements of dance, music and poetry. It is her society’s form of popular expression.
It is history and present. It is dynamic in its evolution. “Tango is an expression of popular art. Tango is life.”
Laura doesn’t believe you need virtuosity to dance socially. She is coming to NYC to teach the authentic social dance or “Tango de Pista” where you create moves and sequences within the music by looking intuitively for rhythm and cadence using your senses.
Charismatic, empathetic, and with endless patience, she has taught thousands of students in Buenos Aires and is always looking for quality and clean movements within the music. She believes that it is better to convey emotions through an elegant dance rather than through a large number of moves.
Laura is coming to NYC to show the authentic, traditional Argentine Tango in all its classic elegance and without modern additions. This is old school dancing: grounded and connected.
